Wildland Fire Technology
Award Type: Associate in Science
The Wildland Fire Technology Associates Degree program will provide the foundational knowledge required to allow students to gain employment with the Fire Service. The program is also designed to upgrade the skills of in-service fire personnel in their present position or to prepare in-service personnel for promotional opportunities. The following are some of the career opportunities that would be available to students with a degree in Wildland Fire Technology, Full-Time Municipal Professional Firefighter, Full-Time Career Wildland Firefighter, Seasonal Firefighter, United States Forrest Service (USFS), California Department of Forestry (Cal Fire) and Wildland Fire Hand Crews.The graduate of the Associate in Science in Wildland Fire Technology will:
- Demonstrate the skill sets necessary for a successful career in the Wildland Fire Services.
- Show knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and codes pertaining to safety and efficiency in all risk emergencies and scenarios pertaining to wildland fire environments as well as the management and the prevention of such fires.
