College Achievement Now (CAN)/TRIO-SSS Program
The CAN–TRIO program serves students who are first-generation, low income, and/or have a documented disability and are part of the Learning Assistance Program (LAP). The program is federally funded by the TRIO-Student Support Services program from the U.S. Department of Education (P042A200930).
CAN-TRIO is designed to:
- increase college retention and persistence;
- provide student support to ensure good academic standing, and;
- increase graduation and transfer rates for underrepresented students to four-year colleges and universities.
Participation in CAN-TRIO provides students with: academic advising; transfer assistance; career guidance; tutorial assistance; financial and economic literacy; cultural and university trips; assistance with financial aid, scholarships, job seeking opportunities; laptop, calculator, and book lending library; priority registration; and access to on-campus computers and free printing.
