Award Type: Associate in Arts for Transfer
As the world becomes increasingly smaller, knowledge of foreign languages expands in importance. Spanish is a very useful language in education, health, social services, business and other fields where contact with the public takes place. The focus of the program is on language; however, students also gain historical, economic and cultural insights into the Hispanic world. Associate Degree for Transfer Requirements Completion of 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including the following: 1. The completion of the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education-Breadth (CSU GE). 2. A minimum of 18 semester units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district. 3. Obtainment of a minimum overall grade point average of 2.0 4. Minimum grade of C, or P grade, for each course in the major. [The following Allan Hancock College graduation requirements will not be required:Health and Wellness, Multicultural Gender Studies and Allan Hancock College General Education.]The graduate of the Associate in Arts for Transfer in Spanish will:
- Be independent language learners and have core competencies in grammar and vocabulary, reading, writing, oral and listening skills, and develop a cultural awareness, to achieve their personal, vocational and academic goals.
