Award Type: wear Specialist

The Formalwear Specialist Certificate is designed to prepare students to work with the specialty fabrics used in formalwear and craft professionals who are adept at creating high-quality formal garments. The certificate develops students' advanced sewing skills specific to formal wear, including mastery over different types of stitches, fabric handling techniques, and garment construction. Students will be equipped with the technical know-how to operate various sewing machines and other essential tools.

The graduate of the wear Specialist in Formal will:

  • Justify equipment and construction techniques suitable for formalwear.
  • Evaluate fit, style, and construction in regard to formalwear.
  • Apply fitting techniques and specialty fabric knowledge to create a well-fitted advanced-level formalwear garment.

Program Requirements

The student must complete course requirements for Satisfactory Progress to obtain the certificate of completion. A total of 96-108 hours.
