Advanced English Language Development
Award Type: Certificate of Accomplishment
The credit English Language Development (ELD) program provides nonnative speakers with the linguistic foundation necessary for further personal, vocational, and academic endeavors as well as helps them assimilate to life in the United States. The Advanced ELD Certificate of |Accomplishment includes reading, writing, grammar, and conversational skills. These courses will enable students to read advanced passages and respond in writing, write well-organized, cohesive paragraphs with minimal errors, use advanced grammatical structures appropriately in a variety of contexts, and participate in conversations in a variety of settings (social, academic, medical, etc.) in preparation for transfer-level college coursework.The graduate of the Certificate of Accomplishment in Advanced English Language Development will:
- PLO 1: Demonstrate reading comprehension across genres.
- PLO 2: Demonstrate writing proficiency for a variety of academic purposes.
- PLO 3: Improve conversational and classroom presentation skills.
- PLO 4: Demonstrate use of appropriate grammatical structures in a variety of contexts.
