Alterations Specialist Certificate

The Alterations Specialist Certificate is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the specialized field of garment alterations.  Students are provided with ample hands-on experience in the altering of ready-made and custom garments. This practical approach helps students gain confidence in their skills and prepare them for real-world projects. Skills learned will prepare students to recognize professional standards of quality construction in the fashion industry and the industry equipment used to achieve it. 

The graduate of the Cert of Completion in Alterations Specialist Certificate will:

  • Analyze and solve fit problems related to ready-made and sewn garments.
  • Apply sewing skills in the alteration of ready-made and sewn garments to fit the body.
  • Recognize and apply industry standard sewing techniques and specifications for apparel alterations.
  • Identify, operate and maintain industrial apparel equipment.

Program Requirements

The student must complete course requirements for Satisfactory Progress to obtain the certificate of completion. A total of 144 - 162 hours.
